PENGUNGKAPAN MAKNA IMPLISIT PADA GAYA BAHASA SIMILE DALAM NOVEL BAHASA INGGRIS GONE WITH THE WIND DAN TERJEMAHANNYA

Abstract

The material discussed in this research is implicit meaning of simile in English novel written by Margareth Mitchel entitled Gone With The Wind. The objective of this research is to analize the meaning as the main aspect of transferring the source language into the target language in translating process. To understand the implicit meaning of simile, the similes in the source language are analyzed using proposition structure : topic, image, similarity and nonfigurative meaning, so the implicit meaning can be revealed. Based on the data collected there are 10 sentences using simile. The method used for the study is generally descriptive comparative one based on the semantic theory.  From these result it is concluded that revealing implicit meaning using proposition could help translating process.
