METONIMI PADA KUMPULAN CERPEN KARYA SHIGA NAOYA: SEBUAH KAJIAN LINGUISTIK KOGNITIF
Abstract
The aims of this study is to identify the linguistic form of figurative language of the metonymy; the extension of meaning of the metonymy; and the contiguity relationship of the metonymy contained in a collection of short stories by Shiga Naoya. The data in this study were gained from the book of 12 short stories by Shiga Naoya published by UNPAD PRESS. Based on the results of the data analysis in this research, 17 figurative language data of the metonymy were found contained in 6 short stories by Shiga Naoya and the following conclusions were obtained, such as: (a) a linguistic form of metonymy as figurative language are consisting of 2 words, 1 phrase, 8 idioms, and 6 sentences, (b) the process of extension of meaning, such as: 5 concrete to abstract, 1 space to time, 1 change in the use of senses, 1 specific to general, 4 general to specific, 1 value change in the positive direction, 4 value changes in the negative direction, and (c) the contiguity relationship of metonymy contains of 9 items of spatial proximity relationship , and 8 items of time relationship.
